                   AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 6958, AS
                   AMENDED, KNOWN AS THE ZONING ORDINANCE, SO AS
                   TO REZONE A TRACT OF LAND LOCATED IN THE 1700
                   BLOCK OF COWART STREET AND WILLIAMS STREET, AND
                   IN THE 200 BLOCK OF WEST 17TH STREET AND WEST
                   18TH STREET, BEING ON THE SOUTHEAST LINE OF
                   COWART STREET, THE SOUTHWEST LINE OF WEST 17TH
                   STREET, THE NORTHWEST LINE OF WILLIAMS STREET,
                   AND THE NORTHEAST LINE OF WEST 18TH STREET,
                   FROM M-1 MANUFACTURING ZONE TO C-3 CENTRAL
                   BUSINESS ZONE, SUBJECT TO CERTAIN CONDITIONS.

              	   SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
         CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE, That Ordinance No. 6958, as
         amended, known as the Zoning Ordinance, be and the same is 
hereby
         amended so as to rezone:
               
                A tract of land located in the 1700 block of Cowart
                Street and Williams Street, and in the 200 block of
                West 17th Street and West 18th Street, being on the
                southeast line of Cowart Street, the southwest line
                of West 17th Street, the northwest line of Williams
                Street, and the northeast line of West 18th Street. 
                Lots 4, 5, and 6, Glass Addition, Cowart Street,
                not recorded; being the properties described in
                deed book 4788, page 600, ROHC, deed book 4776,
                page 600, ROHC, deed book 4811, page 921, ROHC, and
                deed book 4807, page 748, ROHC.  Tax Map No.
                145K-L-2-9.
               
               
         from M-1 Manufacturing Zone to C-3 Central Business Zone.
        
              	   SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this rezoning 

         shall be subject to the following conditions:
        
              1.   Uses and placement of buildings as shown on the 
attached
                   site plan;
        
              2.   Submittal and approval of building plans to the 
Design
                   Center;
        
              3.   Off-street parking approved by City Traffic Engineer;
             
              4.   Maximum height limitation of three (3) stories;
        
              5.   All existing easements are retained.
        
        
              	   SECTION 3.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, That this 
Ordinance
         shall take effect two weeks from and after its passage, as
         provided by law.
